Callie Selby, account manager at dsm-firmenich, spoke to The Poultry Site’s Sarah Mikesell at the 2026 International Production and Processing Exposition (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Callie, you've got some news to share with our readers.

Here at dsm-firmenich, we are so excited to announce that our Ames, Iowa pre-mix plant is now National Organic Program (NOP) Certified, the only organic regulation in the US.

Certification highlights:

  • Hy-D® product options to support specific customer, program, or market requirements
  • Additional flexibility to support multiple production systems and sourcing requirements
  • Clear traceability and documented controls for certified product lines
  • Continued access to our full Hy-D® portfolio, with all products NOP and non-NOP manufactured to the same high standards for quality, consistency, and performance

What does this mean for customers?

This certification enables us to offer NOP certified ROVIMIX® Hy-D 62.5 and ROVIMIX® Hy-D 83.3 premix for customers, with specific sourcing or program requirements.

Many times, our customers wonder if we have to have an Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) certification or NOP certification to use products. At the end of the day, NOP is the only certification program that is regulated by the government. We're able to provide that information and those high-quality products to our organic customers.

Is this another option for customers?

Yes, it's another option for them. They know the government has approved it and has looked through it. Now the whole facility is NOP certified. When you use OMRI certified, it uses a third-party option. They're looking at ingredients and inputs versus the facility as a whole.

Achieving this certification required a rigorous multi-step process focused on how products are sourced, manufactured, and controlled. NOP certified Hy-D premixes are produced in accordance with NOP standards, including no irradiation, no sewer sludge, and no genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
