Reports of Salmonella in Turkeys

According to the 2011 edition of 'Salmonella in Livestock Production in GB', an annual publication from the Veterinary Laboratories Agency, a total of 282 Salmonella incidents were reported from turkeys in 2011, which represents a three-fold increase since 2009, which is attributed to the introduction of the National Control Programme for Salmonella in turkeys, which involves more sensitive and regular testing of both breeding and fattening flocks.
