UK Poultry and Poultry Meat Statistics - June 2011
By Defra. This monthly publication combines the UK Hatcheries Survey and Poultry Slaughterhouse Survey results together with other Defra statistics, and trade data. It includes data to May 2011.Key Points
- UK broiler chick placings were two per cent higher than May 2010 at 70 million birds and UK turkey placings were 24 per cent higher than May 2010 at 1.2 million birds.
- UK broiler slaughterings were one per cent higher than May 2010 at 67 million birds. UK turkey slaughterings were 18 per cent higher than May 2010 at 1.0 million birds.
- UK poultry meat production was 117,000 tonnes, 1.3 per cent higher than in May 2010.
