UK Poultry and Poultry Meat Statistics - May 2010

UK broiler chick placings were 7.4 per cent higher than April 2009 at 85.8 million birds, but UK turkey placings were 5.2 per cent lower than April 2009 at 1.1 million birds.
Broiler slaughterings were 7.4 per cent higher than April 2009 at 81.2 million birds. UK turkey slaughtering were 21 per cent lower than April 2009 at 1.1 million birds.
Poultry meat production for the month was 144,000 tonnes, 4.5 per cent higher than in April 2009.
