Section 1: UK Hatcheries Data - Placings and Eggs Set

  • UK placings of commercial broiler chicks in February 2007 were 1% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.1) . Eggs set were 1% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.5) .

  • UK placings of female broiler parent chicks in February 2007 were 1% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.2) .

  • UK placings of turkey poults in February 2007 were 5% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.3) . Eggs Set for commercial turkeys were 7% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.6) .

  • UK placings of commercial layer chicks in February 2007 were 14% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.4) . Eggs set for commercial birds were 13% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 1.7) .

Section 2: UK Trade in Live Poultry

  • Imports of commercial broiler chicks in January 2007 were 34% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 2.1) .

  • Exports of commercial broiler chicks in January 2007 were 28% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 2.1) .

  • Imports of turkey poults in January 2007 were 7% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 2.2) .

  • Exports of turkey poults in January 2007 were 10% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 2.2) .

  • Exports of live fowls in January 2007 were 100% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 2.3) .

  • Exports of live turkeys in January 2007 were 51% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 2.3) .

Section 3: UK Slaughterhouse Data - Numbers Slaughtered and Average Weights

  • UK slaughterings of broilers in February 2007 were 1% lower than for the same period in 2006 (Table 3.1). At 2.20 kg the average liveweights in England & Wales were 1% lower than in January 2007 (Table 3.4).

  • UK slaughterings of boiling fowls in February 2007 were 5% higher than for the same period in 2006 (Table 3.2). At 2.13 kg the average liveweights in England & Wales were 2% higher than in January 2007 (Table 3.4).

  • UK slaughterings of turkeys in February 2007 were 23% lower than for the same period in 2006 (Table 3.3). At 16.52 kg the average liveweights of 'heavy' turkeys in England & Wales were 2% lower than in January 2007 (Table 3.4). At 6.40 kg the average liveweights of 'light' turkeys in England & Wales were 10% higher than in January 2007 (Table 3.4).

Section 4: UK Poultrymeat Production, Trade and Domestic Usage (Net of Offal)

  • Total UK poultry production in February 2007 was 2% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK broiler production in February 2007 was slightly higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK boiling fowl production in February 2007 was 3% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK turkey production in February 2007 was 10% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK other production in February 2007 was 16% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK imports of whole birds in January 2007 was 16% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.2).

  • Total UK imports of cuts in January 2007 was 2% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.2).

  • Total UK imports of poultrymeat in January 2007 was 1% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.2).

  • Total UK exports of whole birds in January 2007 was 52% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.3).

  • Total UK exports of cuts in January 2007 was 30% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.3).

  • Total UK exports of poultrymeat in January 2007 was 31% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.3).

  • Total UK domestic usage of poultrymeat in January 2007 was 7% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 4.4).

Section 5: Other Poultry Statistics

  • UK Broiler Production of compound feed for poultry in January 2007 was 1% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 5.1).

  • UK Layer Production of compound feed for poultry in January 2007 was 1% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 5.1).

  • UK Production of compound feed for poultry in January 2007 was slightly lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 5.1).

  • The Chicken Fresh Price Index for February 2007 was 4% lower than in the same period in 2006 (Table 5.2).

  • The Poultry Price Index for February 2007 was 2% higher than in the same period in 2006 (Table 5.2).
