Poultry industry, environmentalists spar over manure
ATLANTA - Marvin Cole started raising chickens in 1983, mostly because he wanted what they leave behind. Manure was among the "biggest pluses," Cole said, standing near one of his eight red chicken houses in jeans, boots and Gold Kist baseball cap. "It's a better cash crop than cattle."
