US - Turkey eggs in incubators down 4 percent, report the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
Eggs in Incubators on September 1 Down 4 Percent
Turkey eggs in incubators on September 1, 2003, in the United States totaled 28.3 million, down
4 percent from September 1 a year ago.
Eggs in incubators were 13 percent below the August 2003
total of 32.5 million. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central, down
4 percent; West North Central, down slightly; North and South Atlantic, up 3 percent; South
Central, down 22 percent; and West, down 26 percent.
Poults Placed During August Down 4 Percent From Last Year
The 24.0 million poults placed during August 2003 in the United States were down 4 percent from
the number placed during the same month a year ago. Placements were down 5 percent from the
July 2003 total of 25.3 million. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central,
down 10 percent; West North Central, down 1 percent; North and South Atlantic, up slightly; South
Central, down 30 percent; and West, up 12 percent.
