Poultry and Egg Farmers Call on Canadian Government to Live up to Pledge to Maintain Supply Management - MONTREAL - The Canadian egg and poultry farmers are to join the Canadian Federation of Agriculture in calling on the Canadian government to ensure that the proposed framework released for the fifth WTO Ministerial Conference is not accepted or used as a basis for future modalities in agriculture.

On Tuesday September 9th, the Canadian dairy, egg and poultry farmers will join the Canadian Federation of Agriculture in calling on the Canadian government to ensure that the proposed framework released for the fifth WTO Ministerial Conference is not accepted or used as a basis for future modalities in Agriculture.

The nationally elected representatives of the supply management sector will speak to how Canada must fight for an agreement that does not compromise Canada's stable, safe and reliable supply management sector, as the WTO Ministerial conference kicks off.

Mr. Bob Friesen, President of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) and Mr. Laurent Souligny, Chairman of the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency (CEMA) will be joined in Cancun by spokesperson for each of the productions at stake (Dairy, Eggs and Poultry.

Producers will be available to take questions after making a brief statement, both from journalists on site and via email for journalists in Canada.
