Chicken Feed Use Questioned

MARYLAND - Some researchers are questioning the long-standing use of certain arsenic-based ingredients as chicken feed additives, citing possible health and environmental risks. Chicken companies often mix an arsenic called roxarsone with feed to control intestinal parasites and promote growth. Chickens that eat roxarsone, which is approved by the Food and Drug Administration, excrete the compound in a virtually unchanged chemical form, The (Salisbury) Daily Times reported Sunday.
