Diagnosis:
A. Laboratories where diagnosis was made:
- Disease Investigation Centre Region IV, Yogyakarta;
- Disease Investigation Centre Region V, Banjarbaru;
- Research Institute for Veterinary Science, Bogor.
B. Diagnostic tests used:
- agar gel precipitation test;
- haemagglutination inhibition test;
- pathogenicity test;
- RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase - polymerase chain reaction);
- electron microscopy;
- DNA sequencing.
C. Causal agent: highly pathogenic avian influenza virus type A, subtype H5N1.
