UN food agency to help Afghan women boost poultry production

UNITED NATIONS - In a bid to increase food security in Afghanistan, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization yesterday announced a new project to help 27,000 women boost poultry production. Women in rural areas will be trained in husbandry techniques designed to improve food security and household incomes over the next three years with the goal increasing egg production by a minimum of 45 million eggs in the first year alone through improved feed and medical care.
