Under this decision, 55 cities and provinces will benefit from this funding, which is taken from the central budget reserve for 2004.

Individuals, families, farms and cooperatives that had their poultry culled during the epidemic will receive a support of 5,000 VND for each fowl killed. In addition, they will get a subsidy of 2,000 VND for each chick purchased.

The decision affirmed that the Government would provide funding for the prevention and control of epidemics. Subsidies will also be provided for the culling of poultry, procurement of diagnostic equipment, disinfectants, protective clothing, gears, as well as payment of expenses for those who join in the fight against epidemics.

Furthermore, 100 percent of the cost of feed for breeding poultry as well as the importation of breeding poultry would fall under the coverage of the State budget.

In his decision, the Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to help provinces develop plans to recover poultry stocks.
