Scrap collection scheme - Welsh

UK - The entire fallen stock collection scheme should be scrapped, frustrated farmers have told Eifion Evans, the Welsh director of the Fallen Livestock Company.

The retired veterinary surgeon faced a barrage of complaints when he met members of National Farmers Union Cymru's Montgomeryshire branch at Newtown in Powys.

The NFU Cymru members told him that they were angry and frustrated by five to seven day delays in collections.

And the sight and stench of decomposing carcases were distressing and alienating the general public using footpaths.

Speaker after speaker spoke of chaos and warned that the chaos could only get worse as the lambing season got into full swing.
