Government keen to develop country's poultry sector

BANGLADESH - Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Thursday underlined the importance of farsighted planning, the use of modern and appropriate technologies, research-based knowledge and skilled manpower for expansion of the country’s potential poultry industry.

“Poultry industry has immense potentials in meeting the national demand for animal protein, reducing unemployment and development of national economy,” she said.

The Prime Minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 4th International Poultry Show and Seminar 2005, organised by The World’s Poultry Science Association, Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB).

Apart from Bangladesh, poultry-related companies from 18 countries have set up 140 stalls in the three-day show, aimed at spreading know-how of modern technologies available in the poultry sector for the local farmers as well as entrepreneurs.
