Proper labelling necessary for poultry products
ITALY - "In order to maximise the high quality and safety levels of our poultry products, we should enforce the provisions of law 204/2004, according to which the origin of all foodstuffs must appear on product labels.This way, we wouldn't need to invent a EU mark which might help pass off products from Eastern European countries as Italian products".
The chairman of Federconsumatori, Rosario Trefiletti, explained that this law (a law that both Federconsumatori and Coldiretti called for) "if properly enforced, would provide information on the origin of all products and protect people from the unhealthy ones".
