Competition up in Vietnam's Ho Chin Minh City poultry market
VIETNAM - Although the bird flu epidemic has not yet been completely eradicated in Vietnam's Ho Chin Minh City, fierce competition has begun among poultry suppliers.
The local market has already recovered about 40 percent of its daily consumption capacity, or about 40,000 birds. The poultry market is now dominated by six major traders: CP, Thanh Binh, Nam Phong, Phu An Sinh, Huynh Gia De and Vinafood, who have gone all out to boost their share of the market.
Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) is focused on reconsolidating its system of poultry farms while Thanh Binh Company will offer up original products to attract local consumers. Pham Van Minh has upgraded its poultry processing factory, and opened two more shops to serve the city.
JAPFA, a joint venture between enterprises from Indonesia, the Philippines, China and the UK has also conducted studies on the Vietnamese poultry-processing market. JAPFA has two animal feed manufacturing factories in Vietnam.
