House of Raeford Agrees to Improve Water Handling

US - The House of Raeford has agreed to improve the way it disposes of wastewater. City officials hope the change will ease the strain on Raeford's sewage system, which has been fined more than 50-thousand dollars by the state over the past two years.

A recent analysis showed that the poultry company's wastewater treatment system isn't big enough. That means House of Raeford has sent more waste into city sewers than its permit allows.

The factory and the city have agreed that the company will have one year to expand its wastewater treatment system and stop sending waste through bypasses when its system is overloaded.
