Malaysian Poultry Hatchery on expansion drive

MALAYSIA - TD Poultry, the business arm of the Terengganu State Economic Development Corp, is embarking on a major expansion plan to produce day-old chicks to meet an increase in demand.

Its 100 contract farmers, who are currently supplying 9,000 chicks a day, will be increased to 200 participants to raise 25,000 chicks a day to supply to consumers in Terengganu.

“Our approach is not merely profit-oriented but also to fulfil our social obligation towards creating a group of entrepreneurs from among the rural folks in an effort to eradicate poverty in the state.

“The success of our 100 contract farmers will be used to motivate others to participate in this venture,” TD Poultry chairman Mohd Zawawi Ismail said.
