McDonalds debuts new trio of premium chicken sandwiches

US - Beginning Aug. 2, McDonald's will roll out three new premium chicken sandwiches. The sandwiches, dubbed The Classic, Ranch BLT and Club, will be menued alongside the Oak Brook, Ill.-based chain's current portfolio of chicken products, including Chicken Selects, Chicken McNuggets and its chicken-based premium salads.

Tuesday's announcement coincided with a news release by the National Chicken Council citing consumer data that chicken consumption is up and that 25 percent of Americans buy chicken sandwiches at fast-food restaurants.

All three new sandwiches offer customers the option of either a grilled or crispy chicken breast. "We wanted to create something that reflects consumers' changing tastes," said McDonald's Executive Chef Dan Coudreaut. "These new sandwiches—our "party of three"—fit the bill with premium ingredients and a taste so flavorful customers will definitely take note of McDonald's and its top-quality chicken options."

Rollout of the new sandwiches will include in-store promotions, as well as a national ad campaign slated to begin Aug. 2.
