Frank Bird Poultry Charged With River Pollution

UK - A Penrith poultry company is being prosecuted by environment chiefs for allegedly polluting the River Eden.

Officials from the Frank Bird Poultry factory, at Langwathby, are due in court on September 19 to face two charges of polluting the River Eden and nearby land.

It is alleged that the chicken processing company dumped liquid animal waste on land near the River Eden, polluting both the land and the river.

If convicted the company could be fined up to £40,000 for the two offences.

The Environment Agency declined to comment further because the case is ongoing.
