Get-together boosts poultry industry

NORTHERN IRELAND - Two years on it is time again for the Northern Ireland biennial poultry conference.

The venue, as usual, is Loughry college campus which will attract leading figures from the European poultry scene.

The event - on September 6 - is organised by the Poultry Education Trust, which operates on an all-island basis and derives its income from investments and industry support.

"Our mission statement is about developing people for the poultry industry," spokesman Basil Bayne said.

"This is brought about by financing annual international awards to students studying in full-time education either poultry production courses or others related to poultry husbandry.

"We have been able to send winners to places as far away as New Zealand and Australia."
