National Chicken Month helps boost sales

WASHINGTON - The National Chicken Council and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association sponsor the annual promotional campaign that is geared to consumers and the poultry industry.

This year's theme is "Taste the Possibilities."

According to promotion officials, the campaign has helped increase chicken sales by more than 50 percent in September.

National Chicken Month trade ads will run in Supermarket News, direct mailings will be made to marketing executives with grocery stores throughout the country. Anyone who has responded in previous years will be contacted by mail or e-mail.

There are campaign pitch tools available including a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation.

National Chicken Month efforts will include print ads in grocery retail trade publications and an insert in Good Housekeeping and Woman's Day magazines.

Other promotion items will be available for retail outlets, such as grocery stores, for use during September. These include rail strips, static cling posters and various styles of chicken photography for use in customizing individual promotion efforts.
