Ban on processed poultry imports removed

VIETNAM - Deputy PM Nguyen Tan Dung has instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to abolish the import ban on processed poultry products.

The government will also reconsider the ban of import on live fowls from countries free of avian influenza.

Deputy PM Dung requested the Ministry of Finance to combine with MARD to submit a policy encouraging poultry breeders and processors to change to concentrated breeding and slaughtering modes.

Dung also guided the Ministry of Health to conduct bird flu prevention measures and combine with the Ministry of Science and Technology to research and produce bird flu vaccine and respiratory machines.
