Monthly US Turkey Hatchery Report - US - Turkey eggs in incubators up 6%, report the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Eggs in Incubators on January 1 Up 6 Percent

Turkey eggs in incubators on January 1, 2006, in the United States totaled 29.6 million, up 6 percent from January 1 a year ago. Eggs in incubators were 4 percent above the December 1, 2005 total of 28.5 million eggs.

Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 3 percent, West North Central up 7 percent, North and South Atlantic up 11 percent, and South Central and West combined, down 5 percent.

Poults Placed During December Up 6 Percent From Last Year

The 23.7 million poults placed during December 2005 in the United States were up 6 percent from the number placed during the same month a year ago. Placements were up 8 percent from November 2005.

Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 14 percent, West North Central up 7 percent, North and South Atlantic up 11 percent, South Central down 21 percent, and West up 1 percent.
