China Broiler Market Weekly - CHINA - In this weeks China Broiler Market Weekly, eFeedLink report that broiler prices were mixed as buying interest stays weak in the week ending Feb 15.

Price Summary

Prices of AA broilers were mostly up but those of China breed broilers were generally lower.

Market analysis

In the provinces of Shandong, Henan and Jiangsu, AA broiler prices were higher on low supplies. Sluggish demand and heavy snow hampering broiler delivery to the south had led prices of AA broilers in Liaoning province to slacken.

Prices of China breed broilers gave up accumulated big gains made in the pre-Spring Festival period due to worries over bird flu cases in Hong Kong.

In the provinces of Jiangsu and Guangdong as well as Guangxi Zhuang Region, prices of China breed broilers were mostly lower. Bird flu cases in Hong Kong and the recent death of a bird flu-infected patient in Hunan province had affected prices of China breed broilers.

The increased in supply of whole chickens into the market amid a cut in live poultry procurement activity had also kept prices of China breed broilers low.

Market forecast

Meat demand is likely to remain weak as households are still well stocked with food supplies. Following the price rise in the week under review, AA broiler prices are seen to stabilise in the week ahead. As for China breed broilers, prices are likely to move lower on bird flu worries in Hong Kong.
