Optimising Broiler Growth

UK - New growth profiles for the Cobb 500 broiler will be introduced by Cobb Europe (stand no 22) at the British Pig and Poultry Fair, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, on May 9 and 10, and at VIV Europe 2006 (stand no 09.B040) at Utrecht on May 16 – 18.

The profiles illustrate how to take full advantage of the potential of the Cobb 500 broiler to achieve the lowest production costs by optimising the protein and energy balance in the diets, particularly during the first few weeks.

“With the Cobb broiler there are distinct benefits in slowing early growth through feeding a starter diet that does not exceed 19 per cent crude protein or 11.5 MJ ME per kg,” says John Vincent, senior product manager. “This approach will improve overall bird health and promote greater early activity, while moving on to a higher nutrient density ration after 21 or 28 days enables the birds to finish well on target.”

The exhibit will be the first since Cobb moved its regional headquarters serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa to Colchester in UK, while retaining an office at Putten specifically to serve the Dutch and Belgian markets. The move brings the regional headquarters closer to the UK production facility, one of Cobb’s four great grandparent production centres serving the global market.
