Russia

Russia has approved a set of new rules for importing poultry for further prosessing in the Kaliningrad Free Economic Zone. The rules are the result of an investigation by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade on claims from Russia’s meat industry that large quantities of meat were being purchased from non-CIS countries. The countries were then slightly processing it and then exporting it as their own product to Russia duty free.

The list of products has been changed that can be imported from duty free zone countries to the Kaliningrad oblast special economic zone in January-April, 2006. Imports of most other agricultural products from duty free zones were banned during this period.
