Abattoir may see up to 100 jobs cut

NORTH WALES - Up to 100 workers were facing the axe last night as North Wales abattoir bosses called in the receivers.

Fears for the future of Cwmni Cig Môn, also known as Ynys Môn Lamb, are another major body blow for Angle-sey's fragile economy.

The news comes just two weeks after poultry giant the Grampian Country Food Group announced it was slashing half its 420-strong workforce at its chicken processing plant on the Llangefni Industrial estate.

Rumours about Llangefni-based Cwmni Cig Môn's future were circulating at the weekend. And receivers were yesterday locked in talks with company managing director Owen Owen.
