Govt to bring package for poultry sector

PAKISTAN - Spokesman of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Dr Muhammad Afzal on Saturday said that government would bring package for the revival of small and medium poultry forms owners.

In a statement he said Rs 1 billion have been allocated in 2006-07 budget for the revival of poultry industry.

He said many proposals are under consideration for the revival of poultry industry. He added suggestion to grant interest-free loan to small and medium poultry forms owners is also under consideration.

He said the ministry would also launch awareness programme for people associated with poultry business. In the programme poultry workers would be advised to take measures to protect chickens from diseases.

He said growth of poultry industry in the country is 10 to 15 percent annually.
