Poultry rest day set for July 25

HONG KONG - The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department reminds operators and the public that the next poultry rest day is July 25.

Operators of market stalls and fresh provision shops must suspend business on the rest day to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection. They should strictly observe Rest Day conditions and ensure that all live poultry remaining in their stalls or shops are slaughtered before the rest day. They must not remove any unsold live poultry from the premises to avoid slaughtering.

The department will inspect each poultry outlet on the rest day. Failure to comply with the conditions will lead to immediate cancellation of shop licences or termination of market stall tenancies.
