"The Cobb name has a reputation across the world for the lowest cost production of poultry meat," says Euan Meldrum, key account manager for France.

"Our breeding programme has been focused on improving the overall profitability through reducing products costs and also on achieving a high level of uniformity which pays off on the farm, at the processing plant and in meeting retail specifications.

"These benefits are increasingly being recognised by all sections of the poultry industry, leading to significant growth in global sales."

The Cobb 500 is the top selling broiler breed around the world, and has been joined in recent years by two other breeds developed to suit particular market needs.

The Cobb Avian 48 is aimed at customers seeking high chick numbers and outstanding broiler performance primarily for whole bird markets, while the Cobb 700 has been developed for high breast meat yield for processors of cut-up and added-value products.
