That is the message anyone involved in animal agriculture in Missouri is being told about participating in the initial phase of the National Animal Identification System.

That advice has gone out in meetings and even from a booth at the Missouri State Fair. It's now going out by mail.

Missouri Animal Identification System administrator Dr. Stephen Goff expects a good response from a mail registration campaign, with between 25 and 30 percent of premises in Missouri being registered by year's end.

So far, about 10 percent of the 104,000 premises estimated to be in Missouri have been registered, he said.
