US - Gold Kist Inc. yesterday announced that John Bekkers, president and chief executive officer, will participate along with other industry leaders in a roundtable discussion and take questions from industry analysts at the National Chicken Council Annual Conference on Thursday, October 5, in Washington. The sessions will be webcast live from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. EDT.

Each participant will make a brief presentation and then participate in a panel discussion. The topics for discussion include global competition, chicken consumption, immigration reform, avian influenza and the competition for corn as ethanol use increases.
Asking questions of the panel will be Farha Aslam, vice president of equity research for Stephens, Inc., and Michael Piken, research associate at Cleveland Research Company. Moderating the discussion will be Mark Hickman, president and chief executive officer of Peco Foods of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and the incoming chairman of the National Chicken Council.
