RSPCA revises its turkey welfare standards
UK - The RSPCA’s new revised Welfare Standards for Turkeys are set to be implemented on farm by 29 March.
Key changes to the welfare standards include limiting the number of times that a bird can be subjected to the maximum stocking density of 25kg/sq m (2.3/sq ft) to just once in its lifetime.
The RSPCA has also prohibited beak trimming of turkeys reared in controlled environment housing and formulated more advice on enriching their environment.
