Retailers report no drop in poultry sales

UK - Consumers appear to be listening to the advice of the Food Standards Agency and other organisations and showing good common sense in not altering their shopping habits after the avian flu outbreak, according to the NFU.

None of the major supermarkets have reported a significant drop in sales of poultry products since the outbreak was confirmed.

NFU president Peter Kendall said: “I want to thank our customers, the British public. There are no risks from eating poultry meat and eggs provided they are cooked properly, as of course all food should be.
