Meat Board to be set up in 2 mths

INDIA - The proposed National Meat and Poultry Board, which would be responsible for the development and promotion of the sector, is likely to be set up by June this year, government on Wednesday said.

“Work is going on and the meat Board would be ready in next 1-2 months,” food processing minister Subodh Kant Sahai said on the sidelines of a north-east business summit.

The government plans to replicate the success of dairy sector in meat and poultry industry by setting up an exclusive board to ensure growth in an organised manner. The proposed National Meat and Poultry Board, which would be set up on the lines of National Dairy Development Board, would oversee the growth and promotion of the sector.
