Monty Henderson, president and chief operating officer of the privately held chicken producer, declined to disclose the financial details of the deal, but confirmed the sale would include 1 million hens that produce about 350, 000 dozen eggs a week.

George’s struck the deal with Benton County Foods, a newly formed joint venture between two U. S. egg companies — Cal-Maine Foods Inc. of Jackson, Miss., and Country Creek Farms Llc. of Rogers, a major marketer of egg products.

While all parties remained mum on the deal’s value, the transactions would include pullet-growing facilities, and a feed mill in Watts, Okla.

“ Looking in our long-term opportunities, we see more opportunity in expanding our broiler business, ” Henderson said in a telephone interview last week.

“ We want to focus our growth on the broiler business, and we thought that it was the right time to exit the egg business, ” said Henderson.
