EU Member States May Lift Ban On Chinese Poultry Imports

EU – The European Commission will ask every European Union member states to lift the ban on Chinese processed poultry imports, it was revealed yesterday.

The decision was made at the EU-Sino trade talks in Brussels between Chinese Commerce Minister Bo Xilai and EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson on Tuesday according to a press release from the Chinese delegation.

The EU has outlined a proposal vowing to resume normal trading operations between the two sides. EU representatives did not disclose a date for the lifting of the poultry imports ban.

The EU imposed the ban on Chinese poultry imports following the outbreak of bird flu in China and South East Asia in 2004.
