National Poultry To Roll New Meat Production Line Soon

JORDAN - National Poultry Company (NPC) will soon be rolling a new meat production line in addition to slaughtering and marketing chicken, producing chicken feed and operating poultry farms.

A juice factory, established last year to manufacture and can food products and juices, was still under construction as of December 31, 2006.

According to market sources, the JD10 million new meat processing facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and can be considered the largest in the Middle East.

The wide-ranging meat products will be sold in local and regional markets, unlike poultry products which are all, consumed inside the Kingdom.

The company's activities take place at Al Qatraneh, Khan Al Zabib and Al Damikhy/Karak road, south of Amman.

NPC raised its chicken meat output by 9 per cent in 2006 as sales grew by 6 per cent to JD34.1 million from JD32.97 million in 2005.

After including JD7.72 million of feed sales, total sales amounted to JD41.82 million compared to JD40.14 million in 2005.

When various costs and expenses were taken into account, the profit boiled down to JD7.18 million, 12 per cent higher than the JD6.37 million recorded in 2005.
