In order to increase poultry production, the governments should provide soft loans up to Rs 1 million each on basis of easy installments. Central convener Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Abdul Maroof Siddiqui expressed these views while talking to Daily Times on Monday.

He said the demand for the loan facility is in line with the poultry development policy of the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, which he announced pm last Friday.

He said this facility would enable the small farmers to import duty free implements and equipments for modernisation of dairy farming in the major farming areas of the country. In this way the country will overcome the shortage of meat, as this sector’s contribution in meat production is 20 percent.

He said this step would also help provide job opportunities to the breeders besides controlling increase in prices of meat.
