Kuwaiti fund lauded for supporting Egypt''s poultry industry

KUWAIT - Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Amin Abadha, has lauded the support by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to the country's poultry industry.

The KFAED presented a loan worth USD 86 million for rehabilitating the country's poultry industry, Abadha told a workshop in Cairo today on the techniques for combating bird flu, held in cooperation with the UN Development Program (UNDP). Abadha appreciated the role by the Kuwaiti fund in the economic development in the Arab and Muslim worlds.

He stressed the need for concerting international efforts to combat bird flu through the exchange of expertise and the effective preventive strategies.

According to the Egyptian Minister, poultry is among the key industries in the country employing up to 5 million people and attracting USD 5 million investments.
