A study by Directorate of Economics and Statistics has discovered serious flaws in the role of Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) vis-à-vis implementation of Poultry Development Scheme (PDS).

According to the study the outlay and the expenditure figures of the PDS suggest that the scheme has nothing concrete that could by any means bring a positive change in the development of poultry production in the district.

"The major part of the outlay is meant for the salaries to the staff sanctioned under the scheme and other expenses required for the conduct of day to day office business. Only a meager amount has been provided and utilised on capital part which too has witnessed downward trend at Rs 1.75 lakhs in 2005-06 from Rs four lakhs in 2000-01," the study said.
