The ban was imposed on November 15, following reports about a fresh outbreak of avian flu in certain parts of Saudi Arabia.

“The ban was imposed as per guidelines of OIE- the World organisation for animal health. It would take at least three months to review the ban once it is imposed," Dr Gail Fraser Chanpong, director of the Public Health Department at NHA told The Peninsula.

Qatar has so far remained safe from avian flu due to the timely measures adopted by the authorities, even when some neighbouring countries were affected, she added.
