Last month's outbreak affected more than 100 people, and was traced to raw egg products used by a caterer.

It is the seventh time in the past four years Pitts Poultry has been linked to an outbreak of salmonella.

The Head of Biosecurity Alex Schaap is not yet sure how the eggs were contaminated.

"It's very difficult to determine at this stage," he said.
