Poultry Meat Exports Soar in 2007
ARGENTINA - Exports of poultry meat from Argentina rose by 26 per cent in volume last year to 145,760 tonnes, according to the food safety and quality agency SENASA.The value of the exports rose by 54 per cent to $189, 315,000 compared to 2006 when the country shipped 115,262 tonnes worth $122,578,000.
Exports of fresh poultry meat including whole birds rose by 31 per cent to 93,315 tonnes worth $122,578,000 - a rise in value of 57 per cent.
The main destinations for the exports of fresh poultry meat were Chile, 24,858 tonnes, South Africa, 15,357 tonnes, Saudi Arabia, 6,565 tonnes, Germany, 6,547 tonnes, Holland, 3,868 tonnes, and Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2,594 tonnes.
Exports of by products were 47,773 tonnes worth $48.280.000, an increase of the 19 per cent in volume and the 57 per cent in value, with China importing 21,619 tonnes and Hong Kong. 12,624 tonnes.
Exports of processed poultry meat reached 4,672 tonnes worth $13.277.000, an increase of the 31 per cent in volume and the 29 per cent in value. Most of the processed meat was shipped to the Netherlands and Germany.
