"We do not expect the court's decision to have an impact on our sales since we already have large stocks of frozen chicken to meet a temporary situation of this nature," the company said in a statement to the Colombo stock exchange.

According to Lanka Business Online, none of the major activities of other farms in the group and the sales of day-old chicks will be affected as the order is only applicable to the Nittambuwa slaughter house, north of Colombo, it said.

"We do not foresee the court order resulting in any immediate adverse effect on the financial results of the group."

On March 5, the company was ordered to temporarily suspend production at its Nittambuwa facility on a complaint of vapor emissions and discharge of treated water that could affect the environment.
