The present situation has come about as a result of a number of bans affecting the import of fresh chicken from suppliers in Saudi Arabia, reports the Gulf Times.

According tot them, a Q-Mart representative said they had not received any fresh chicken supplies for the past five days, and getting any supplies whatsoever was proving “very difficult.”

“We are not sure when we will next have a delivery of fresh chicken, but we have been told that hopefully we should be receiving some stock in five days time,” he said.

He pointed out that the price of chicken has increased dramatically over the past year. While earlier it used to cost the vendor some QR11, the price has now climbed to QR16, which of course affects the price customers have to pay, he added.
