HK Traders Look More Likely to Accept Deal

HONG KONG - Poultry traders are moving closer to accepting a government compensation offer to give up their licences amid pressure from retailers who are close to agreeing a similar deal.

The Standard reports that New Territories Chicken Breeders Association chairman Wong Yee-chuen is taking a pragmatic attitude.

Mr Wong had previously fought to continue live poultry trading but he says, "Over 90 per cent of us are now considering closing our businesses. The government is forcing us to close down. Now, we want a more reasonable deal."
