Financial Crisis Will Not Affect Poultry Industry

RUSSIAN FEDERATION - An offical of the Russina Poultry Union says the current financial crisis will have no serious impact on domestic poultry production or the growth of the industry.

Galina Bobyleva, General Director of Rosptitsesoyuz (Russian Poultry Union), considers that the effects of the present financial crisis will have no serious impact on the rates of active growth of domestic poultry production industry, reports Meat Russia.

"We may be sure that measures which are currently taken by Russian Government will afford Russian poultry producers to fulfill all their obligations within the frames of the state program in full," she said.

She added that this year, the increase of poultry product manufacturing is to amount to about 300,000 tons, up to 2.2 million tons in comparison with 2007. An average annual growth of poultry production industry for the last 11 years amounts to 20%.

She also noted that it is necessary to reduce the poultry imports quota, while admititng that poultry enterprises are facing a shortage of current assets and that they are concerned about a dcline in demand for poultry products.
