Cherkizovo Shows Positive Sales Growth
RUSSIA - Cherkizovo Group, one of the country's leading integrated and diversified meat producers, has released its trading results for the first nine months of 2008. Poultry sales were up 13 per cent, and pig sales up by 61 per cent compared to the same period of 2007.

Poultry Division
Total sales volumes in the Company's poultry segment increased in the nine months of 2008 by 13 per cent to approximately 137,000 tonnes as compared to approximately 121,000 tonnes in the same period in 2007. Prices1 for poultry increased by 19 per cent in the nine months of 2008 to $2.58 per kilo compared to $2.16 per kilo in the nine months of 2007. In rubles (RUB), prices increased by 11 per cent to RUB 62.03 per kilo compared to RUB 56.05 in the 9 months of 2007.
Pork Division
Sales volumes in the Company's pork segment increased by 61 per cent in the nine months of 2008 to approximately 29,000 tonnes, from approximately 18,000 tonnes in the equivalent period in 2007. Throughout the nine months of 2008, pork prices1 in Russia followed the global positive pricing trend and increased by 30 per cent to $2.75 per kilo live weight compared to $2.12 in the nine months of 2007. In rubles, prices increased by 20 per cent to RUB 66.16 rubles per kilo live weight compared to RUB 54.98 in the nine months of 2007.
Meat Processing Division
Sales volumes in the nine months of 2008 within the meat processing segment increased by one per cent to approximately 110,000 tonnes as compared to approximately 109,000 tonnes in the nine months of 2007. Average prices1 within the meat processing segment increased by 26 per cent in the nine months of 2008 to $4.15 per kilo compared to $3.29 in the nine months of 2007. In rubles, the prices increased by 17 per cent to RUB 99.67 per kilo compared to RUB 85.14 in 2007.
